Hello IXDA Forums
I am a recent graduate of Illustration at Sheridan College in Ontario Canada. I am interested in the field of user experience and user interface design. It seems to combine art and technology really well.
I am not sure where to begin my journey though. Where does one learn the software, theory and get the experience necessary to start a career? Specifically in Ontario, but Distance Education could work as well.
Come join me at the June UX Boot Camp! We'll be designing a new interactive experience for public radio listeners and contributors. To sweeten the deal, I'd like to offer all IxDA members a special 15% discount. To cash in, just register here with the code "IxDAMember".
If you are considering going back to school in the fall, I would like to invite you to apply to Austin Center for Design. AC4D is located in Austin, Texas, and our program is one-year long; classes are held on nights and weekends, and the program is an affordable $12,000. We offer a unique combination of courses in interaction design and in social entrepreneurship, and many of our students go on to found and run their own double-bottom-line businesses.
If you missed the IxD13 Education Summit, I put together a recap of the ideas that came out of it. Lots of good fodder here for how IxDA could help improve design education, get it into schools earlier, etc etc etc.... Read the blog post.
I am teaching a mobile app graphic design class at Florida Atlantic University this semester. We would love to have someone with mobile app design experience come and talk to us about the design process, careers, and the mobile app industry. I am not sure we have any sort of budget for this yet, therefore I am reaching out to those already living/working in South Florida to volunteer to spend and evening with our class.
Please let me know if you are interested, or if you know someone that might be. Thank you!
I am about to start studying at the Open University (opens in new window), and picking modules that will increase my knowledge and progress my career as a UX designer. The modules cover cognitive psychology, technology and design. This is what I am looking at so far:
I'm a student research assistant with ACM SigCHI doing a project on HCI Education needs. While I'm almost done with the first stage of my research, I'm lacking the perspectives of Interaction designers and other professionals. If you are working in HCI/ Interaction Design, I would love to pick you brain in a brief (30 minute) interview through Skype or over the phone. Please shoot me an email if interested. Thanks!
