It's not often that a tax department gives anyone good news, but thanks to the persistent efforts of the Interaction12 Committee and Abbey Conference, we've just learned that Irish Revenue has decided that we no longer have to charge VAT on registrations for Interaction12.
This means the registration to Interaction12 is now 21% cheaper than before! Don't worry, if you've already booked, you'll be getting a refund for the VAT portion of your payment in the next couple of weeks.
Interaction11 media partner Johnny Holland posted an interview today
with Ushahidi founder Erik Hersman, one of our conference keynote
speakers. JH talked with Erik about his hopes and dreams for
crowdsourcing, and the role interaction designers can play in fulfilling
that dream. Erik also gave a brief preview of some of the topics he’ll
address at Interaction11:
The peices are almost all in place. We have a beautiful location and a host design program, the keynotes have been announced, workshops and lightning rounds have been selected, and a variety of fun and informative local activites have been arrange for Interaction11. Now all we need is you!
Today the Interaction11 team proudly announces the full conference program of keynotes, lightning sessions, workshops, and special events. In a post to the conference site this morning, co-chair Jon Kolko ran through some of the highlights, including:
Howdy interaction designers and the people who love them!
Verplank--a man known for sketching as he talks--has a long career
spanning design, research, and education. He spent time at Xerox on The
Desktop Metaphor, worked with Bill Moggridge at IDTwo & IDEO
pioneering our field, innovated design methods, researched haptics, and
lots more. He’s also spent many years educating and lecturing on human
factors, user-interface design, and most recently “new music
controllers” at Stanford’s CCRMA... And lots more!
The Interaction11 team pulled back the curtain another member of our keynote dreamteam today! We're pleased to announce that Lisa Strausfeld of Pentagram will be joining us the conference. With this latest announcement Jon Kolko and MJ Broadbent continue their theme of keynote awesomeness, as they handcraft a program for I11 that no one should miss.

Today, Interaction11 co-chair MJ Broadbent announced some exciting news about the conference. We're excited to introduce our fifth keynote for Interaction11, Ushahidi's co-founder Erik Hersman. You can read MJ's happy announcement here:
My name is Josh Damon Williams, and along with Erik Gibb I'm coordinating the marketing effort for Interaction11. Starting today and continuing over the next few months we'll be announcing keynote speakers for the conference.
