Strategies for moving/migrating to a new website

Hi,

I am currently working on a personal banking platform that, due to various internal reasons, will rely heavily on a 3rd party platform/software. My company would like to move away from the use of the 3rd party platform over the coming 1-2 years and have complete control of the platfom itself.

Doing so could result in the website having a different design, and updated functionality (not changing the core proposition of the service however).

Migration from Ning to IxDA.org

Hi all:  

As we begin to pull the plug on our IxDA Atlanta Ning network in favor of the IxDA.org site, we need to figure out what we should bother moving (email addresses for members) and what just needs to disappear.  Sue Chase has offered to put some time into the migration, and I'd like to figure out who has admin rights to the local chapter.  I remember seeing emails awhile ago from Maria to some head guy at IxDA.org, but I am not sure where all that landed (I don't see any kind of admin rights when I log on, so I am not sure who besides Maria has admin rights).

Migrating customers to a new registration system

I am working on a B2C site that is centralizing multiple divisions into a single site. Need to migrate customers from old authentication systems to the new one. Can't auto-migrate credentials (not unique on an enterprise level). (1) Anyone have experience doing this? (2) Any POV on best practices vis a vis UX, customer satisfaction, (3) if a grace period is provided how long should it be (user vistation frequency = monthly.
