First off, is that really that low? I don't know my exchange rates off-hand
but the pound at it's lowest is 1.5 dollars to the pound which would put
that at some $70k, no? Considering that teaching usually has "supplemental"
income at this level, I'm not so sure that I think that is so bad.

Also, I bet in the UK the bennies are a heck of a lot better than they are
in the states. Just the # of bank holidays alone.

This came across CHI-JOBS and well it is just too rare to see an IxD
faculty post at such a great school come over the wire.

2D/3D integration

Hello all,

Would like to meet individuals interested in integrating interaction design + design communication. Specifically, designing and programming 2D graphical user interfaces dynamically linked to real time interactive 3D model (object and space).

Thanks,

Juan Ramón

UX manager resources

Hi, all,

Does anyone know of mentorship/discussion group resources specifically for UX group managers? The U-PODS web site seems to be down--anyone know if that group still exists, and if so, how to get in touch?

I manage two other designers, and have just had a significant expansion of responsibilities due to my company being acquired.

Boston--"mini-UPA" conference, March 3rd

FYI--for anyone that will be in the Boston area on March 3rd, the local Boston chapter of UPA is holding a mini-conference in Natick at The MathWorks on Route 9. For more information on topics and how to register, go to www.upaboston.org.

Thanks,

Recommend IxD or usability seminars/conferences (USA)

Hello all -

I just got approval to participate in an offsite seminar or two this
year. Do you have any recommendations for conferences or seminars
focused on general IxD, IA or usability? By general, I mean not overly
technical or graphic design-focused. I'm a content producer and have
recently been submerged in peripheral IA and usability roles and would
like to learn more. Any advice is appreciated. US only, please.

Thanks in advance!
Sarah

Book Recommendations?

What books would you recommend for interaction design, interface design, etc...specifically for someone designing web applications? I have been designing apps for awhile now, and have read all the normal prerequisites for usability and design. I am looking for intermediate to advanced books.

Thank you in advance.
