Mental model

An interesting article on narrative approach to ixd, related to our recent
discussion on mental model.

n.php

This is similar to some of the diagrams we were discussing. Writing out
scenarios from left to right and with three rows for what the user is
thinking (or feeling), seeing (from the system), and doing.

Mobile Usability

Hi!

Can anybody on this list help me find up to date papers/links/books on the differences and similarities between web- or desktop usability and mobile usability? A customer of ours needs a comparison that highlights the usability issues that are added when working with mobility and mobile devices.

Regards,
Mattias

'Usability' growth in the UK

Link to a recent short article in the UK based 'New Media Age' magazine
reporting significant projected growth in the UK for 2006.
I was actually surprised at how small the GBP figures were, but will point
to the growth percentage in future sell opportunities.

Some interesting statements in here too:

"Increasing demand for qualified HCI professionals - recruitment is a big
issue." :)
