Training options

Hi,

I'd like to hear feedback, advice, opinions about these training possibilities.
I should add that I've never had formal training. I've learned on the
job, read lots of books, web articles and so on.

External Interfacing.

"A real how do you do."

New lighting technology for entire buildings:

Would someone on this list, a few maybe, like to propose, quickly, how
we design the interaction for this type of public display?

We should comment on this before an architect or project manager says
he knows how to make more mess out of the city, and develops interface
logic which is irreversible. What would you do?

Humbly, I'd suggest LED walls should offer directions.

To Attend or not to attend

A couple of comments here got me thinking about conferences that address our issues and thoughts.

Personally, I don't have a problem with a good mix of academic topics mixed in with "industry tested"
practices. The theoretical academic research is very important and needed to advance our field forward - for this reason we shouldn't look down on it and should support it equally. Any intelligent person out there can take academic concepts and try their own application of the principles at work.
