ROI on Interaction Design - financial analysis

I am waiting on my new copy of Cost Justifying Usability - An Internet Update. I am also reading a sample chapter of it about online surveys.

However, something I am particularly interested in is there any examples of financial analysis/modeling formulas, spreadsheets, etc, out there that are used to compute or model the exact ROI in a dollar amount?

I read the online survey chapter, but while it cited examples, I am looking for actual formulas/financial analysis tools I can hand my financial modeler and he can plug in numbers and predict the ROI on a given activity.

Skill sets for an interaction designer

My organization is currently debating the role of an interaction designer on Web
application development projects. Luckily, we have strong support for the
position, but we are having trouble defining what they should do. There are two
camps:

1) The interaction designer is a generalist. She/he takes on the role of a
business analyst, defines user requirements, creates prototypes, does the
graphic design, builds the final HTML that will be used by the programmers, and
conducts usability testing. This person would report to the software engineering
group.

New OK-Cancel Comic ... Great comic to go w/ a good article.

http://www.ok-cancel.com/

I wrote an article about my experience in switching from PC to Mac, that the
good old twosome at OK-Cancel let me publish on their site. All in good fun!

Usability testing agencies in Greece?

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find a reputable usability testing agency
in greece?

Requirements include:

* a reasonable portfolio
* facilities for screen recording (either scan converter or software)
* delivery of video on DVD or video file (pref. capture direct to)
* preferably facilities for picture in picture talking head.

thanks

Why hire an ID instead of a software developer?

I'm about to challenge a project team to redefine an open position from
a software developer to an interaction designer. They are currently
looking for a person who can design a GUI and write code -- always a
tough position to fill.

I'm meeting with the team to convince them to go the ID route and not
require coding skills. However, I work in a very engineering-centric
organization where lines of code are *the* basis of productivity. The
team is about to embark on the development of a new version, though, so
the timing is right. Has anyone ever successfully made this case
before?

Metaphor needed!

All -

I am currently working on a heuristic and content evaluation of a large
company's mini-website that markets a small set of specialized products
to non-customers that have, consciously or subconsciously, rejected this
same company's more mainstream offerings. We are evaluating a few
in-class competitor sites, but I'd like to take a look at some
out-of-class operations to see if there are any really effective
communication/marketing techniques or metaphors in place.
