US vs. European interactive design

As the principle of a London UK based interactive design company that is currently working with an organisation with significant interests both sides on the 'pond' it's not the similarities of interactive design between two countries but the differences that interests me. Whilst we both speak the same language the subtle differences between our two cultures means that any designer delivering to both audiences with a single site needs to really understand them.

You can now make online donations to IxDA via PayPal (including major credit cards)

It took us a little bit longer than we wanted to, to make our online
donation process official, but now it is.

improved desktop concept: linux symphony os

i thought that might be an interesting approach to you.

a beta release of a linux os named symphony introduces an uncluttered,
restricted interaction model to improve usability and findability.
it is build on declared 'laws of interface design' (
http://symphonyos.com/laws.html ), utilizing Fitt's law and insights on
struggling with windows (and mac os), while borrowing some of the os x
i haven't finished the bootable iso-download yet, but the description and

Looking for portfolios (similar mssg posted to IAI last week)

I'm putting together a list of samples, best and worst
practices for portfolios that fall somewhere under the broad user
experience umbrella.

If you have a portfolio, or know of one, please email me off-list. I will
compile, and post back here. Please note if you
prefer your portfolio not be compiled for the list or the web.

If you'd rather keep your portfolio secret, please consider emailing a
URL so I can record any novel strategies. I won't pass along any
secret URLs.

Thanks in advance!
