How do you define a 'good' user experience?

Hello everyone,

I am working on a piece for a marketing magazine about designing the user
experience for corporate Web sites. I have a question for the list's
resident practitioners: at the start of a project, how do you define the
desired user experience for the site?

The premise of the article is that a 'user experience brief' should use as
its starting point the brand essence/values of the corporation or
organisation.

*Just kidding*

My company is looking at some staffing ramp-up, based on some possible

going rates for the following web personalities would be (by hour or
sal):

Sr Web Interface Designer (Designs html prototypes, visual interfaces
and interaction of web-based applications. Designs and evaluates
visual human interfaces utilizing user-centered design principles.)

Sr. Web Developer (Implements the user interface design. Creates
production ready screens for engineering dev.

Students ask: how do you brainstorm?

I’m part of a group of 4th year students trying to develop a capture
and access tool to help enhance the productivity of a team’s creative
process. For better or worse, we’ve decided to target Interaction
Designers for our initial development. So, we were hoping that some
of you might have the time to answer some questions about how you get
your brainstorming done:

1) How do you do your brainstorming individually? Ie. Scribbles
on paper, post-it notes stuck to walls.

2) How do you do your brainstorming as a group? Ie.

Phrases

Hello,

I am curious as to what you perceive to be the differences between the
following phrases:

Interaction Design
User Experience Design
Information Architecture (Design?)

There must be a lot of overlap in what these 3 phrases describe. But what
are some of the differences between them?

Many thanks,

Taneem

For people who couldn't attend and want to see the "History of IxD"

I'm writing a book on user experience documentation and I need a photo that

ID in Seattle

Hi,

I'm the TA for a course in Interaction Design up at Simon Fraser
University in Vancouver, BC. We'll be taking a group of 2nd years
down to Seattle to tour them around some firms (DK, Phinney) and get
some great talks (Tim Pfeiffer of LMN Architects, Tan Le, Alex
Steffen from Worldchanging.com). There will also be a group of 24 4th
year mentors accompanying us.

We'll be there for 4 days: Nov 17th - 20th

Anything interesting and new that we can check out ID-related in the
Seattle area in our spare time?
