Icon design resources

We're looking for resources to help design custom application icons
for a consumer product. Does anyone on list have individual
contractors or consultancies they have worked with successfully in
the past? For individual contractor names please feel free to respond
to me directly.

Thanks!
Chad

Hello,

I am trying to spec the behavior of a tree selection mechanism that involves
checkboxes and have a question about standard behavior that I can't quite
find the answer to.

question about role of interaction design and human factors

Hello,

I'm confused about interaction design vs people trained in HCI and/or
human factors.

I know sometimes both can be assigned to the same project at the same
time.

Today's New Application for Making Applications...

Bunchball!

http://www.bunchball.com/
"You have an idea for a multi-user networked application. Maybe it’s
a game, maybe it’s a new way to share music or photos, maybe it’s
something nobody’s ever thought of. A beautiful little jewel of an
application, you know that you can make something fantastic.

Hi All,
If anyone in the Eastern PA area is attending UI10 I'd like to invite you to
a Face-to-Face dinner on 10/10. This will be a great opportunity to unwind
after a long day of sessions and meet other local UI folks.

If you’d like to join us, just RSVP to me so I can make sure there’s room
for you. Details on when and where to meetup are forthcoming.

Re: goowy

What? Still old boring email folders? Where are Tags/Labels?
Some people spent so much resources creating something useless...

goowy

Hey there folks.

Just thought I'd share yet another RIA e-mail client. Can't wait for all the
comparison blog entries that are bound to come out soon. 8-)

(it is a lot faster if you use the flash 8 beta version but it has some
quirks.)

Save the Date: December 12, Exciting MAYA Event

IxDiggers--

I'm pleased to announce that the IA Institute, in conjunction with
MAYA Design, is planning a special one-day presentation on the
amazing work that MAYA did in improving the information architecture
(both virtual and physical) of the Carnegie Libraries in Pittsburgh.

You may have read about it on mailing lists or in weblogs:

Libraries in Visio

We are using Visio to create wireframes. One of our
team's designers was formerly using Fireworks to make
wireframes and liked the Libraries capability of
Fireworks.

We have looked a Visio and are using the stencils.
However, stencils don't work like the libraries in
Fireworks. For example, if you update a library
element in fireworks, it updates that element across
all the files.
