Interaction of men with product shapes

Dear all

Few weeks ago I did the following request: 'I was wondering if someone is working with the emotional/affective interaction of men specifically with artefacts/products. Any reference on empirical (or theoretical) research/method regarding this subject is warmly welcome. I will summarise the replies and e-mail back to the list.'

I thank you those who have replied.

Awesome mobile IxD!!!!

http://news.com.com/Search+technology+comes+to+the+camera+phone/2100-1038_3-

The above article from news.com talks about initiatives in Europe and the US
that use camera phones+messaging+recognition instead of web interfaces to
ilicit information, download content, or just generally begin the search and
retrieval process from a mobile phone.

This is just awesome!!!! IMHO.

suggested User ID's

Hi everyone,

I am investigating the possibility of using suggested user ID's for a
registration system.

My gut feel says that users would still opt for creating their own user
ID's even if it takes them quite some time to find one that is
available.

Tags

I'm implementing a tagging system for a website and I was curious to
know if there are any standards for implementing them. Delicious, Flickr
etc all have different implementations.

Also, is there any purticular reason why tags are mostly single words.
Wouldn't "Interaction Design" be better than "InteractionDesign". I
guess we could implement this in many ways (like comma delimited lists etc)

several resource questions

Good afternoon

I find this list group to be one of the most informative.

Here are my questions:

1. Can anyone recommend great consulting firms for true
ethnographic research and who employ trained ethnographers and/or
anthropologists? Some firms seem to be advertising ethnography when they
are just doing site visits.
2. As interaction designers which books have you found most
helpful?
3. Is there anyone in the greater Pittsburgh area that would want
to have a F2F? If so I'd be happy to coordinate it.

UCD organizations

I am wondering if anybody knows of any articles that
talk about how to organize a UCD team, particularly a
UCD team that is engaged in both product development
and professional services for external customers.

Just came across this site about interaction design / user interface design for mobile devices. Looks quite useful...
