european interaction design

I am very pleased the new Sweden interactive
community, so I know Swedish schools are gaining more
experience in interacrtive design and big companies
such as Volvo are increasingly its budgets researching
in this new filed of design.

Apart of this I know that German design in special BMW
is also experimenting very profound with interactivity
in its new vehicles and a few weeks ago I heard about
a German or some German workshops in Berlin in
interactive design.

Now I am pursuing my M.A.

Folksonomy v/s Taxonomy

In my case, I need to categorize user created lists of places/
organizations. I can either have user defined categories or use tags.

My obvious concern with tags is that the use of synonyms can potentially
fracture the usefulness of the data and creation of meta-noise. For Eg.
if the users are creating a list of high-schools- they could be
potentially tagged as schools, school, educational institution etc. But
it does work well in Flickr/delicious etc.

So..when do I use one over the other?

Hi All

I'm very proud to say that we on the 11th of May, 2006 have announced
that we are starting a local IxDA affiliate in Sweden.

Our premiere event will be a free seminar in relation to our F2F with
2-3 speakers who will talk about their view on Swedish interaction
design. We are currently waiting for confirmation from the speakers so
when the details are clear we'll send out an update.

Net Neutrality in Jeapordy - is this really a bill in congress? What are we doing to keep neutrality?

Just curious what's everyone's take on a Bill in congress which will cause
Net Neutrality to be limited on a pay to play basis by Internet Providers.

Congress Votes Against Net Neutrality Bill (From NPR, April 27, 2006) -

Here's a humorous site detailing the issues quite well -

I believe this is something that could adver

What do these prototyping tools give me? (RE: Axure RP Pro prototyping tool)

If people concede the point about these tools not working well as a
conversion prototype > word platform (which is what I'm hearing), and then
it is just about prototyping, then ... Why these tools?
What do they offer that another development environment doesn't? I mean
iRise and Serena have pretty heft licensing costs. That is pretty hard to
justify when I can great prototypes in Dreamweaver or Flash or Flex 2.0 or
the upcoming tools in the Expression Suite from MS, just as easily.

What am I missing here?
