What makes an RSS reader good ...

> Regarding comment #5 below, what *does* make a good RSS reader?
> (just curious for opinions on this)

As soon as I find one, I'll let you know. ;)

But seriously ...

I'd like to be able to take notes about a post and save them with post
snippets and a link back to the post. I'd like navigation that doesn't
involve a treeview control (gasp!).

New personas book

Hi all -

Just a quick note to announce the release of my book on user research
and personas, with the understated title "The User Is Always Right: A
Practical Guide to Creating and Using Personas." If you attended the IA
Summit in Vancouver, you might have heard me give a preview of some of
the book's content on adding more science to persona creation.

Hi all,

What do people think about the netvibes.com experience? Sure it gets

Philips

Jim Joula is a cognitive psych professor/researcher and is one of the early pioneers in HCI research. He published like 40+ papers on the topic in the course of first 10 years of personal computing. Jim just headed back to Philips in Europe to do some more research early this year. Philips is not afraid to invest aggressively in R&D and are becoming more and more user/customer focused. I would expect to see more great things from them in coming years.

This is too cool for school ... Philips' "Entertaible" (name to be discussed elsewhere)

http://www.research.philips.com/initiatives/entertaible/index.html

Philips creates a tabletop screen to take high-tek board games to the
next level.

I love it!!!

Scholarships and Grants for IxDers?

Hey all,

I am a graduate student in the University of Baltimore's Interaction Design
and Information Architecture program. I will be working on my thesis next
summer and was looking for ways to possibly fund 3-6 research credits this
spring and my last 6 credits for the actual thesis.

Are there any scholarships or grants available to IxDers? I always come
across ones for fields such as computing and engineering, but nothing which
covers HCI, usability, or interaction design.

Saying hello from Barcelona, beeing this my first post on this quite
interesting list of which I´m really happy of having found it. Probably
known to many of you, the Ars Electronica Festival, first-player in
competion of cyber-, and interactionarts, in Austria is starting today.
Have a look at their site: http://www.aec.at

Saludos,
Volker

Top Ten IxD examples? What it takes

This thread is already interesting.

Michael Tuminello wrote:

It would be interesting to know the size (and profile) of the team that
would typically work on such a project i.e. the iTunes player Music
Store and Player.

I hear Apple has (only) 8 industrial designers for its physical product
design, and works with partners to put some of those extreme design
intents into engineering and production. I suspect that their
interaction design team should be much much larger.

BarCamp NYC, Sep. 30/Oct. 1st

It's time again for another BarCamp "unconference" in NYC.

What is BarCamp?
BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to
share and learn in an open environment.
