Designing Movement

I came across this site today, Designing Movement.
http://www.benhopson.com/index.html

The site is put together by an Industrial Design student at Pratt, Ben
Hopson who is interested in the aesthetics of motion and the practice
and theory of its practical design.

I think there is a lot of practical stuff in here for us as Interaction
Designers who deal with objects moving through time in context virtual
and physical, to glean from this site.

It is yet another example where we have so much to learn by looking at
other *more) established

Hi Peter

How are things over there in Amsterdam?

I wish you could have followed me from The Web and Beyond Conference to

JOB: User Interface Software Developer. BOSE Corporation (Massachusetts)

For any and all of the "crossover" folks who were/are software gurus looking
to get further into the UI space, we have an amazing opportunity inside our
UI/Ix Design group here at Bose. We're basically looking for a great
software engineer/architect who can apply their knowledge to UI design by
bringing our designs to life. We're looking for a software type first, Flash
type 2nd who can speak the language of our software engineers, and apply
that knowledge to a Flash environment for our prototypes.

CfP: CHI2007 Courses and Workshops, Deadline September 1

Hi,

The message below is sent on behalf of Marta Rey, CHI2007 Communication
Chair.

I think the professional nature of the IxDA community makes it ideal for
submissions to Courses and Workshops, as these are opportunities to share
specific tacit knowledge with a large group of people. FWIW, course
instructors are well compensated ($700 per 90 minute instruction block).

==

Courses and Workshop's deadline is September 1st.

Jean Scholtz and Susan Palmiter, CHI-Courses Co-Chairs, invite you to make a
course submission:

'CHI 2007 will again offer courses as part of the technical program.

Success with inference engines?

What experience has this group had with inference engines? Have you
seen situations where it was inappropriate? Have you seen examples
where it was really a miracle tool? Has it been more or less effort
to implement than you anticipated?

Sources for online help tool: FAQ and "helpdesk"combined

LePo,
As a long-time help author, I'm very interested in this. Ultimately I'd like
to get more details about your quest, but in exchange I'll offer something.
First, the following link shows a page with a novel help button on a lot of
fields:

People aren't tempted by simple things; they are tempted by tempting things.
My point isn't to "split hairs" but to get to the issue.

SxSW Interactive's Panel Voting System

http://2007.sxsw.com/interactive/panel_picker/

Well, there are definitely some IxD relevant panels listed, but more
importantly is the interaction design of the panel itself. I found it
quite good.
