Site Metrics

I'm evaluating web analytics packages. At my last job, we used Google
Analytics. We implemented it so that we could track click-analysis as
well as page views. For example, we could look at any given page on
our site and get data for how many people clicked on each individual
item on that page.

Unfortunately, at my new job, we can't use Google Analytics. We have
to store the tracking data internally for privacy reasons. I've been
reading about Omniture, HBX and the original Urchin software product.
Have any of you used these products for this purpose?

ADMIN: Report back on "header" removal

I thought I'd give the list a report back on what it's been like for the
last few weeks since we removed the prefix at the top of every message
asking people to trim their posts:

1. VERY few if anyone trims their posts anymore. it used to be a lot
better. I don't have exact numbers, but as someone who kept track of this,
I can tell.

2. On the flip side, I have not gotten a single complaint from any
subscribers about the situation.

To me this means it is a great success, and thank you Dan Saffer for
pushing this to happen.

If anyone does want to complain, PLEASE don't do it to the list.

[iai-members] pattern or feature inventory (as in content inventory)

Jay, if you are looking at a complete software solution which does both
'capture' and 'present', Adobe Captivate (formerly RoboDemo) will be a very
good option (disclaimer: I haven't used it yet).

* Capture: it can record mouse movements and keyboard activity, audio
* Store: You can store the multimedia captured in a library and drag and
drop it into your slides
* Present: publishing options include SWF; standalone files for Windows, Mac
OS, and Linux; Microsoft Word, HTML pages, PPT (with the embedded flash
file)

Web Design Business Numbers?

[I'm cross-posting. Many apologies.]

A friend of mine is looking for data on the web design industry. Here
are her questions:

1-I'm looking for data on the total market (dollars spent) for web
design and development services (everything from the creative, user
experience, etc.). Do you know of any reputable research groups that
track the industry?
