What do you call this list behavior?

I'm working on design patterns for mobile phone applications, and I can't
work out what to call this...

Its a list where the item with focus is expanded to display more
information. Its a true list, not a closeable panel. What would you call
this list behavior/behaviour?

Quote from Ziya's sig

At the bottom of Ziya Oz's email signature is the following quote, "In
design, interaction is the last resort." I'll assume since he doens't
attribute it to anyone else, it is his.

For people unaware of Ziya, he is a former list member here, but is
more active on the SIGIA-L where he is a pundit for DESIGN.

F2F Boston?

Hola New Englanders,

Wouldn't it be great to put some faces to names around here? If you're
interested in kicking off Boston/New England F2F with me in the next month
or so, please email me off list with your name and location (work/home) so
that I can find a good centralized place for us to get together. (If you
have suggestions for that, too, I'm all ears!)

research - design or marketing

I have always purposed research for either marketing efforts, or for design of the product/service. I believe that marketing research and design research ask different questions. Design research fo instance tends to go deeper. I also think that design research can happen prior to and during the design process.

Masters Degree Recommendations

Hi All,

I'm considering going for a Masters Degree in HCI or some related
discipline. I'm just beginning to think about this, and I'm hoping some
people on the list might know of some good programs. Right now I'm
leaning towards finding an online program, but from a good school. Does
anyone have any recommendations?

Using learned behaviors to set system defaults

Is their any research, blogs, ideas, books etc on the application
learning the behavior of the user and setting system defaults

I was in a discussion yesterday where our application is hitting out of
memory errors because we set no limits on the amount of data that can be
opened in a spreadsheet like window. We just try to load it all up and
in most cases since users never load that much data it is fine. This bug
was found in house by our teams going to the extreme.
