IxDA job board: How Global?

Hi,

All the placements on the IxDA group make me wonder if
its a call only for the local folks or the world is
finally flat and the call is global indeed ?

Considering the fact that UI Research & Design and the
work done, is perhaps similar or at par all over the
world, should this be the case? Baring VISA issues,
should you find the candidate suitable, what are the
constraints for a global hiring possibility?

Thanks and Regards

content inventory for an RIA?

Hello all,

Most of us are familiar with doing content inventories for websites. Jeffery
Veen over at Adaptive Path has even shared his spreadsheet. (Here:
http://www.adaptivepath.com/publications/essays/archives/000040.php)

My question to you is how do you document feature/structure inventory of a
RIA/web app?

For example: You launch a beta version of a product. As people use it, they
make feature requests.

Should tabs be persistent or not

I am currently working within the confines of a Core Architecture design
for a web app that uses persistent closeable panels as navigation in the
left column - primarily search and search refinement criteria - and
persistent tabs across the top, that represent the search results and
other related content such as a map, reports, user centric data
(Profile, History) etc, that are unique to each application. Typically I
have seen no more than five tabs in these apps.

"Adapting Usability Investigations for Agile UCD" published

Several people were asking about resources/case studies/help
to do agile user-centred design. The Journal of Usability
Studies has just published an article I wrote that describes
in detail the adaptations to usability investigations (such
as rapid formative usability testing and contextual inquiry)
that the Autodesk (was Alias) UX team made in order to
support UCD:

http://upassoc.org/upa_publications/jus/2007may/agile-ucd.html

I hope there is some helpful material in it.

neat little JS app mocking an iPhone

http://davidcann.com/iphone/

The behavior needs some tweaking, but to me there are a few things in
there relevant to the "animation" threads.

Personally, I still think "designing transitions" is a lot more
palatable than talking about "animations" when it comes to IxD, but
that's me.

Anyway, the example is interesting, built using YUI components so it
is totally takeable.
