Amusing job post - UX researcher, mad SQL 2000 skillz required

This is almost as funny as the "interaction designer, must be a C++
expert" job posting that provoked a huge discussion on this list a
little while ago.

Coincidentally (or not?), this also comes from a recruiter working
with a certain large Redmond-based company.

nested, multi-step progress bars

Hi all,

I'm looking for some ideas on how to design progress bars for some
nested flows.

In the application I'm designing right now, we have two flows for two
related tasks, task A and task B. Task A has 3 steps, and Task B has 4
steps.

Intersection07 ... Design Council (UK) explores design's future with other disciplines

The Design Council of the UK (an amazing organization, BTW) had a
great event looking at the intersection of design disciplines with
each other and with other non-design disciplines.

Interaction Design in Sustainability

Hi,

I am an Interaction Design student from the Umea Institute of Design in
Sweden.

I am taking my master degree in Interaction Design and am now preparing for
my graduation project, which will last for 20 weeks starting from
20thJanuary 2008.

The theme I want to develop is: What could be the role of Interaction Design
in Sustainability?

Here is a link to my project goals:

My directions in this topic are still fuzzy and I need more concrete studies

link vs button

Hey gang -

Back in the day when there was a clear(er) delineation between "software" and "the web," the way most of us designed was to use buttons for actual actions or operations, and hyperlinks for opening or filtering a web page.

It seems to me like this is changing in our wild mashed-up world of web app fabulousity - lots of folks are designing apps where a hyperlink invokes an action (edit, add, send message, etc).

What do you say - are said designers committing heresy, or are they trailblazers?
