Repurposing Personas

Just wondering if anybody has found it useful to repurpose personas
that were created for a specific project into another area of the
company. I.e. have you successfully translated personas into something
that call center customer service reps can use to identify common
problems and possible solutions. Or get your frontline staff into the
headspace of a user to have empathy over a technology problem or

Any tactical examples would be much appreciated or a good bashing on
why this shouldn't be done.

Web Site Navigation Best Practices - Use of Tabs, Mouse-overs, Breadcrumbs and Left Hand Column Navigation

Can anyone refer me to some material that explores user interaction
design best practices in the context of using various web site
navigation constructs (tabs, mouse-overs, breadcrumbs and left hand
column navigation)?

I have managed a number of employee portal implementations over the
years. These implementations have involved a variety of vendor portal
(and web content management) products but they typically, in varying
degrees, leverage some combination of tab, mouse-over, breadcrumb and
left hand column navigation functionality.

REQUEST: Stats on Mac IE 5 ...

Perhaps a bit off topic, but ...

I was hoping a few of you might have (or wouldn't mind asking around
to get some) stats on visitors using IE 5 on the Mac. As a percentage
of users, I expect it to be small but I have no hard numbers.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
