[Event] IxDA-SF presents: Motion Design: Storytelling and Wayfinding in Mobile UI Design

IxDA-SF is pleased to have Punchcut this month sharing their insights
on mobile interface design.

Motion design is a key component in emerging device user interfaces.
Designers must go beyond the gloss and use motion and animation to
guide users through an experience. We will discuss and demonstrate
motion design principles that balance utility and dramatic impact to
create memorable, playful and usable branded experiences.

Christian Robertson will discuss the practical benefits of ways
motion can provide meaning.

Wireframes: Illustrator/Indesign question…

Meikel,

I think you might be better off creating your wireframes in InDesign.
You can create a master page with common elements, then put each
wireframe on a different page. InDesign CS3 you can import other
InDesign documents as graphics and if you choose "show import
options" when you place the file, you can select which page is
shown.

Wireframes: Illustrator/Indesign question…

Hi Meikel,

I'm not sure the InDesign+Illustrator is the best choice for your
wireframe documentation.

If you're using a PC, you should take a look at Axure -
http://www.axure.com. I have some friends who have been using it and
they seem very happy with it. I've never used it, as I haven't done
wireframes for a long time, and also because there is still no Mac
version of this software...so, I've never even tried it...But I have
close friends using it and loving it, many of them with an
"Illustrator background".

Parallax

Explaining Semantic Web and its self-describing data defined by facets, predicates and
authority… isn't easy. Showing the power of SW can be bewildering. How can a regular person understand it? Parallax, a browsing interface designed by David Huynh does a good job explaining.

Welie.com and Design Patterns

All,

A recent Google search of mine returned the site Welie.com as one of the
first hits. I've never seen this site before and couldn't find anything
about it in the IxDA archives. Since the site is about patterns in
design interaction, I was wondering if any of you have used the site and
what you thought of it? It appears to be published by a single
individual, but he does seem to have some decent credentials.

Thanks,

Brian J.

Rugby.com

Had to submit this site to the group as I find it pretty interesting. Aside
from some navigation probs., I think this site is very cool and demonstrates
an effective and very compelling use of Flash--although it's obviously
geared toward a very young demographic (much younger than me!). I'd be
interested in your reactions--both positive and negative. There are some
innovative ideas in here if nothing else.

Power of Google Search Words...

Ok so we all know about search engine optimization but who would have
thought that when you pasted the word WHEN into Google in error you
might get this...

http://www.deathclock.com/

how weird is that?

My supposed expiration is to be on Monday, March 16, 2043.
