Find like-minded people in Beijing

Hi all,

My name is Stephen Zhao, working for sina.com (a Chinese news portal
website). I am very interested in interaction design and find that IxDA
provides great discussion groups here to gather people in the same camp.

In Beijing, there is still no any face-to-face group and coordinator. Making
this post is to find people with the same interests in interaction design,
IA in Beijing.

Wireframes Magazine

Hello,

I am just launching a little experiment over at
http://wireframes.linowski.ca and I invite you all to share if you have any
interesting visual communication techniques. The idea is to find and share
new samples of design documentation coming from IA's, interaction designers,
and UX practitioners. The page view has been challenged with richer
interactions and so I still believe there is room to evolve our
documentation techniques.

Strategic Interaction Design

I'm starting a revision of my book Designing for Interaction.

is: how to decide WHAT should be designed and WHY.

ixd scholarships / grants

Hi all,

I haven't seen this question posed since 2006, hopefully the possibilities
have grown -

are there any ixd scholarships or grants out there?

and if not specifically ixd, might someone have recommendations for what
fields might be appropriate to search for funding possibilities?

Whole system interaction I appreciated over the holidays

I gave the US Postal Service "Click-N-Ship" and carrier pickup services a
try over the holidays to send parcels hither/yon. In a nutshell, you create
an account and enter shipping details on their website, pay for postage with
a credit card, and then print out a shipping label with your printer. You
can then request that your postman stop by your house to pick up the
packages for you.

This all worked out pretty well, eventually. I had some trouble with the
website, especially the first time when a multi-page registration intruded
while entering credit card data.

Feedback on Job Description

I'm looking for feedback on a role description to...
a) gain clarity on what kind of Interactive Designer my company is needing
and
b) gain an understanding of the best way to describe the role to ensure
the right candidates will know we want to meet them.

We're looking to get a contract to permanent role filled mid-January in
our San Francisco office.

Let's give it a go...
