Small/local/community banks with cool functionality and innovative designs

I've been asked to do some research on (small/local/community) banks that
have innovative designs and offer functionality to engage and attract
customers.

Any suggestions and recommendations on financial institution candidates from
your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Please respond to theo at theomandel.com

Thanks,

Theo

Examples of Cooper-style "requirements"?

Our team has just developed an extensive set of context scenarios,
describing how our personas will interact at a high level with the web
application we intend to develop.

About Face spends barely 1.5 pages talking about extracting requirements
("the personas' needs") from scenarios. I get the basic idea, but I learn a
lot better from examples. Perhaps some of you out there have real
requirements sets you could share?

Thanks,
Jon

Joel Spolsky claims the 'Program Manager' role does UI design... ????

This post and the reactions on the list demonstrate very clearly the need
for intense communication to related communities. I am working mostly in
enterprise environments in Europe, and there it is still quite normal that
UX work is been done by business analysts and developers without naming it
UX or anything similar.

[F2F] IxDA meeting: Mar 10, 19H30 - Fringe Club HK (MTR Central Exit D2)

Sending a reminder to the global list in case there is anyone new around.
Cheers,
Adler

----------

Dear all,

It's time for another gathering on Tue, Mar 10. Our monthly meetings
had some breaks, but I guess the busy life of HK justifies that.

Where: Fringe Club HK (MTR Central Exit D2)
When: 7.30pm, Tue, Mar 10

The format will be casual, but all are encouraged to bring something
to discuss -- recent work, an interesting topic, a question.

I'll share my insights from the Interaction Design conference in
Vancouver (5-8 Feb).

Seattle: UW HCI Project Fair, Monday 3/16

For Seattle-area IxDAers:
HCI Project Fair - Student Presentations

Each fall, students in UW CSE's Human-Computer Interaction courses organize
into teams and spend a quarter designing, prototyping, and most importantly
evaluating a user interface. CSE 441 is our second quarter, advanced HCI
course, which allows the top teams to continue to iterate and improve on
their designs.

Come join us on Monday, March 16th, from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM to see what the
students created this quarter. Lunch is on us.

IxDA Education Initiatives - Update

Hi,

I wanted to post a brief update on the status of the IxDA Education
Initiatives, and invite you to get involved with our work.

We've targeted three main areas for progressive development this year.
Within each area, we have groups investigating a number of sub-initiatives,
with the intention of producing something actionable by May 1st of this
year. The details are listed below; if you would like to get involved,
please send me a message off-list specifying which specific sub-initiative
you are interested in and I would be happy to invite you to our basecamp
projects.

Joel Spolsky claims the "Program Manager" role does UI design... ????

"Lacking a program manager, your garden-variety super-smart programmer is
going to come up with a completely baffling user interface that makes
perfect sense IF YOU'RE A VULCAN (cf. git). The best programmers are
notoriously brilliant, and have some trouble imagining what it must be like
not to be able to memorize 16 one-letter command line arguments.
