Thanks IxDA! Accepted to ITP program @ NYU!

Last year I posted a thread on this list asking about master's programs. My
perspective was changed by the responses I received, reorienting my ideas of
what I want to get out of school. I'm proud to say that i've been accepted
into the Interactive Telecommunications graduate program at NYU! I visited
the program last Fall and it was AMAZING.

Great Personalization Examples

Hi All,

Anyone out there want to share examples of helpful personalization that
they've encountered? I'm looking for things that go beyond arranging widgets
on a homepage (www.google.com, www.netvibes.com).

ISO Country List Field

Hi Christine,

To prevent spelling mistakes you could use a textbox with auto complete (aka
type ahead) functionality.

I think the current standard solution is: using a dropdown with ISO 3166-1
country names.
There is a previous discussion about selecting a country:

Online Advertising vs User Experience

Hi All,

We often end up in a debate with our clients who are desperate for
earning some extra revenue by adding new advertising spots on the
website.

How much ever we hate it, we end up trying to create a balance. It is
often the only source of revenue for many content based sites.

I am currently doing a research on how to deal with advertising with
minimum compromise on user experience.

Do we have any research / guidelines / best practices supporting the
same? How can we explain them the user experience point of view.

Regards

Ankit Shekhawat

interesting quote, "Experience design is not about controlling the experience you try to give them"

It's from inspireUX<http://www.inspireux.com/2009/04/13/experience-design-is-not-about-trying-to-control-the-users-experience/>
.“Experience design is more about the kind of experience users actually
have than about controlling the experience you try to give them.” - Robin
Good

User experience design sometimes is a bit miss-leading ( or easy to lead
understanding ), this more or less leads by the name expanding tradition
(let's call it expand-ism),
