Any latest Radio Button interactions with accordion combined??

Hi Folks,

I have a design dilemma and wanted to get thoughts from folks here:

The challenge is that I have 2 radio button and one of the button
when selected has a list that drops down and it is a mini datatable
with 2 columns and a dropdown. This would be okay if the number of
rows remained constant but it changes all the time and can be very
long for a drop down and almost feels like some optical illusion

Any ideas on what is the best/optimal way to address this issue?

Swansea Local Group

I hope this is posted in the right place, but apologies if not and
admin feel free to remove...

I'll be moving back to the UK for my PhD in September and was
wondering if there is a local group, such as the one here in
Shanghai, in or near Swansea. I've had a look at the map and it
seems that the UK is lacking in local groups, with only 3 listed...

If not then I guess my closest will be the start-up one in
Birmingham, but not exactly within walking or biking distance!

Evaluating off-the-shelf products

Has anybody on the list had any experience of evaluating off-the-shelf
products for usability and quality of user experience.

I'm working with a company whose philosophy is to, where possible,
buy a product rather than build. The evaluation of such products is
based on supporting business processes and conforming to technology
infrastructure (and, of course, cost). They are now seeing the need
to include UX in the evaluation process but are not sure how.

Recommendations for icon-designers?

Currently working on a suite of web-apps (CMS, CRM, task- and
project-management etc). The UI is in large part going to be
white-labeled by the various clients and consequently the little
graphics that are going to be universally present will in large part
set the visual tone of the apps.

I've been searching the good ol' interweb for the above-mentioned
resources, but was wondering if anyone here has any good
recommendations for talented icon designers suited for this kind of

Setting up local group in Birmingham, UK

Hello. I have taken the first step of starting a local group in
Birmingham, UK. I am now looking for IxDA folk in the local area who
will be interested in helping me get this up and running. I will be
looking to represent the Midlands as this is the only local group in
the area.

I would like to hear from local leaders from other areas to hear how
you grew your local area. What challenges did you face? What has
worked well? What has not worked so well?

examples of practical research Ph.D programmes

I'm undertaking a research Ph.D via a combination of practical and
written dissertation. I'm doing this within the arts faculty of
Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. R.M.IT and Q.U.T in Australia
also offer these types of Ph.Ds within the area of interactive design.

Could someone please advise me of other universities offering similar
programmes? I'm keen to make contact with colleagues undertaking this
type of experience and share insights on what type of standards we
should be seeking when developing practical work in this context.

Palm Pre

So the Palm Pre came out recently but I have not seen the kind of buzz on
this list like we saw for the iPhone. I tried out a friend's device recently
and was really impressed. Notably, I think that the lack of background
processing and the ban on multiple apps running at once on the iPhone is its
Achilles heel. Pre does not have that limitation along with what looked to
be an elegant UI and a nice keyboard.
