I’m looking for a resource that provides the most common(preferred) date format for a local. e.g. U.K – dd/mm/yyyy , Bulgaria – dd.mm.yyyy

Best Bets in search results - integrated or separate?

Hi all

About to design a search results page for a site search, which will include Best Bets (results that are promoted manually for particular search terms). I'd appreciate your thoughts on whether the Best Bets should be:

  • integrated into the 'organic' search results, or
  • shown separately, in the same way that Google and other search engines show their paid results separately from the paid results.

The Best Bets are not ads - they are an attempt to provide better results for the user.

Looking for Guidance

Hi,

I am glad that I have found this portal. I am a Industrial Designer and I was laid off in 08.

I have not even had one interview for a job in my field. I was going to take advantage of

some of the training funds available. I am considering a certification offered at NCSU for

web developer. It seems to be a lot to cover in 3 months. Is this something that will put

me in demand with my design background? I have also considered working on a Phd.

I aspects of user centered design and interface design. Input would be a great help.

Thanks

Your input wanted: Survey for creative professionals who license images

Hi all,

We're doing a short survey of creative professionals on behalf of a client.
The survey is about your image and photo licensing habits.

We'd love to get your opinion.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5YYDTZK

Participants can opt to enter into a drawing for prizes - they will be giving away three $150 gift certificates for either Amazon.com or photo buying credits (the winners get to choose what they want).

Ubuntu UX Change Battle Is a Great Forum For Impassioned IxD discussion

A recent article on Slashdot.org brought to light an internal batting raging on about changes to the button layout on one of the Ubuntu skins.  I found this really interesting because in reading the comments, you really get a sense of the arguments for and against changing a given feature in an overall design.

The comments on the Ubuntu UX feature are here:

Size of global usability/UX market

Does anyone know if there's a report about that estimates the total size of the usability/UX market. I managed to find one report that puts a figure on the UK market size, but can't seem to see anything about the global market.

Thanks in advance!

Toby

Making design patterns work in practice

I just posted about making design patterns work in practice on the Autodesk Designing the User Experience blog. I am curious to hear other stories about creating and using design patterns within a corporate or agency environment.
