Incredibly Ticked Off

Tonight I responded to a discussion board post seeking advice on getting a job in UX. In context, it was nice and normal and addressed the concerns in the original post. However, for some reason, my post went to an email list completely without context. Shortly after, I received an email from a CEO believing I was directing my response to her, which would have been completely inappropriate, and out of context - downright rude.

Classifying the complexity of a screen design

Hello,

If you are supposed to do UX design estimate, and you need to measure it based on "Simple, Medium and Complex", how do you classify the Simple, Medium and Complex screen design?

What are all the factors that you will consider to define a screen complexity, like number of screen elements, form elements, data structures etc...?

How do we go about it?

Cheers,
MeUXGuy

One man's design method

http://geeks.thedailywh.at/2011/05/23/pixel-music-video-of-the-day/#more-15552

The first 1:30 or so of the video shows how he timelined, storyboarded, sorted, and otherwise did what I would call design activities for his video. I use similar processes for interaction design and wondered what others thought of the parallels.

Partial Date of Birth on forms

We need to know the age of users and their children to invite them to take demo-graphically targeted actions on our site.

Privacy concerns are being raised around getting that specific information, and we're thinking of going with Month/Year instead of asking for a full DOB.

I'm suggesting we go with a dual drop-down interface showing months (January, February, etc.), and years (1993, 1992, etc., (users have to be at least 18, so starting there).
