I just created my second class on Skillshare. It focuses on building a portfolio, which I know is a challenge for many UX newsbies.
If you are a student, career changer, or need an updated portfolio for your next job search, this class is for you.

On behalf of the IxDA Board of Directors, it is with great pleasure that we announce Interaction15 will be held February 2015 in San Francisco, in conjunction with California College of the Arts (CCA).

San Francisco emerged as the successful location following an open call to the community for interest and detailed site visits to the finalist cities - San Francisco and Santa Monica.

Designing in the Open

This started out as a discussion with some friends, and turned into a talk I gave at BlendConf.

I'm curious if we are capable of designing in the open, open sourcing our work (some of it), and/or collaborating as a group of designers on a project.

So a few of us from the conference started a new site to begin the discussion. We are also trying to see if we can collaborate on the design as an open community.

Here are the two design discussions we just started:

Are you designing amazing stuff? Want to show it off?

IxDA Boston is organizing a hands-on experience playground area at the Design Management Institute's Experience Innovation conference for people to use, touch, smell, and taste interesting products, services, and ideas that cultivate exceptional user experiences. This is their annual conference and it is being held in Boston this year at the Liberty Hotel on November 5th and 6th.

Maximum permissible delay between user action and feedback from Television

I am working on television EPGs. I was wondering about the maximum permissible delay between a user action and the feedback from Television.

Eg: User presses ChannelUP button on the remote control. TV responds to the action by changing channel. What should be the maximum allowed delay between this for a good user experience?

Jakob Nielsen talks about 3 response times - http://www.nngroup.com/articles/response-times-3-important-limits/

I am not sure whether it is applicable for TV watching scenario too.

Universities offering Interaction Design masters program

Hello everyone,

I'm Adil Bawany, from Karachi, Pakistan, a CS undergraduate, serving the local IT industry for the last 2 years, with some experience as a 2D graphic design freelancer and owner of a small portfolio http://adbawany.deviantart.com/gallery/

I wish to pursue further studies in the Interaction Design field. Ideal would be a masters program that is a cross/mixture of my creative/aesthetic side, and my technical skill.

Meeting Real–World Needs with Pixel-Scale Systems

Aside from random rantings about philosophy, I have been making some articles on tactics. Lately, I've started a sort of series on tools. The overview: http://uxmatters.com/mt/archives/2013/06/tools-for-mobile-ux-design.php with all the usual suspects like whiteboards, Post-Its, paper and html.
