Copy is design, on Tumblr

Hey all, I'm the co-author of the "Translation is UX" manifesto and related article on ALA. I'm also member of IxDA Lyon (France).

I'm pleased to announce the launch of a new project: This Tumblr is meant to illustrate the role copy plays in the user experience, through the sharing of examples of great/bad copy and translated copy.

IxDA discussion forums - why a linear feed and not categories?

Ever since I started using the IxDA website, I've been curious why the discussions are shown in a linear feed vs a more traditional category or sub-forum organizational structure. I have a terrible time trying to find anything here because the only search tools are keyword based (search box at the top of the page and word cloud on the side) which generally ignore the secondary information heirarchy of time, and thus seem to return extremely old, and generally no longer relevant posts.

How did you convince people to use Notable?

If you're using Notable (or other comparable services) in your day to day work, what are the obstacles you encountered during the implementation of it and how did you manage to overcome them?

As a UX consultant, I've used Notable since 2010 but I found it difficult to persuade stakeholders to trade emails for Notable. Notable ( lets you take any interface screenshot, sketch or wireframe and exchange notes on specific details with your team.

Pleasant Surprises

I am interested in collecting examples of pleasant surprises in interaction design--primarily screen-based, but not exclusively.

An example would be when I was trying to figure out how to increase font size on my daughter's Kindle touch. I tried pinch-out and it opened the font size controls.

Designing for Imperfection

A couple days ago, I posted an article on UX Magazine about inexact design. It follows from the way I have been working for a long while, and some presentations I've given, but after reading some other work on electronics design and service availability (and talking with some other smart UX folks) I codified it a bit more.
