The Wall Street Journal is looking for an Information Architect /UX Designer who

  • Is passionate about solving problems and communicating solutions, with strong organizational skills 
  • Is interested in innovative experiences and new media.  
  • Understands shared product experiences across different mediums  
  • Thrives on tight deadlines and multiple, parallel projects 
  • Enjoys working with multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Understands  the capabilities and limitations of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript and Flash
  • Is familiar with Visio, OmniGraffle, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and comfortable learning new technologies 
  • NOTE: Previous experience working with Market Data and mobile interfaces a plus


Job Responsibilities:

-        Conceptualize projects from description to detailed specifications:

  • Work as part of the Product team to translate business goals into interactive solutions
  • Contribute findings on users’ needs, interaction models and the competitive landscape
  • Produce creative concepts, prototypes and storyboards to communicate solutions to core team and major stakeholders

    Create documentation used by Business, Development and QA:

    • Site Maps
    • Use cases
    • Detailed wireframes
    • Technical, editorial, and usability specifications
    • Functional requirements


    Contribute to user research and usability testing

    • Work with the Research team to create testing scripts
    • Create testing materials
    • Provide iterative solutions based on user feedback


    Advocate for the end user
