Description:

Based in NYC’s Union Square, Knewton is poised to revolutionize the practice of education with the world’s most powerful adaptive learning engine. Today, our revenues come from our next-gen online test prep classes, but our vision is much wider. Generic blurb aside, we are a startup. We are rich in eclectic personalities and are ridiculously dedicated. Our intention is to democratize education. Yes, that is a lofty goal, but we are committed to it, and our investors think we're on to something.

You are a mid-level interaction designer eager to work as a dedicated, on-site member of the product development team on meaty, worthwhile projects.

You definitely:

  • have training and/or 2-4 years of experience in web-based interactive design
  • consider yourself a problem-solver: you are preoccupied with interaction design + usability
  • understand how to work within a design system
  • are a self-starter - can self-direct a project with limited direction
  • have an appreciation for simplicity as a design principle
  • are interested in pushing the envelope on web 2.0 UI design
  • have a natural ability to make information beautiful

Responsibilities:

  • wireframing for our product
  • developing sitemaps/user flows where needed
  • prototyping design solutions
  • specifying guidelines and interaction patterns
  • user observation + usability testing

Other skills you may have:

  • visual design
  • front-end development

This is an on-site position in Union Square, NYC.
