Provide visual design solutions and support for departmental Website, Web applications, and marketing and communication materials in a variety of media. Establish visual standards that effectively communicate administrative information services and systems, and promote an appropriate University image. Help maintain these standards by serving as a visual design consultant to application developers. Work closely with Writer/Editor in maintaining departmental Web style guide and with administrator of Web Content Management System to integrate CSS-driven design templates. Typically requires an Associate’s degree plus two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong design abilities and proficiency in software applications such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver required. Familiarity with components of Adobe CS3 (Acrobat Professional, Illustrator, InDesign) helpful. Excellent verbal, organizational, collaboration and problem solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment required. Proficient knowledge of Web standards, cross-browser and platform issues, accessibility and usability required, as well as HTML, XHTML and CSS. Prefer experience in navigation, information architecture, JavaScript/jQuery and digital photography. Candidate should be prepared to present a portfolio featuring Web and print designs and will be asked to exhibit their strengths in conceptualization, illustration, Web page design and publication layout.
