Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished, innovative, and multi-talented UX Architect and leader to serve as the UX Architect-Product Lead for Endeca’s Platform product team. This team focuses on designing, building, and evolving Endeca’s platform including our proprietary MDEX engine that enables meta-relational indexing and analysis of varied information assets and tools for developing, implementing, managing, and extending innovative enterprise search and discovery applications The UX Architect-Product Lead will help the team define the user experience requirements for the next generation of our platform, design and optimize the user experience for all developer interfaces and tools, and help accelerate user adoption of the platform.


• Collaborate with the leadership of the platform development teams and platform product managers to define user experience requirements for the next generation Endeca’s information access platform and tools
• Plan, lead, and execute user experience work streams & programs to optimize product quality and user experience for key platform product areas based on human centered design principles and Endeca’s evolving UX best practices, principles, and knowledge base, within an agile product development process
• Help hire, mentor, and manage UX team members to support the platform product development team
• Plan, lead, and conduct user research and create explicit user models (e.g., personas, scenario flow models, mental models, task models) that characterize people's information access, decision support, and discovery needs and behaviors in key business-user domains/verticals
• Create UI design artifacts – e.g., UI wireframes- to guide development teams and provide UI development oversight to ensure realization of designs and UX-usability quality/effectiveness
• Conceive, design, and help optimize the usability, effectiveness and adoption of reusable and extensible UI assets for Endeca -- e.g., UI components, UI application templates and frameworks, etc. – that enable Endecans, partners, and customers to rapidly create and extend compelling and effective discovery applications based on the Endeca platform
• Conduct and collaborate on iterative UX/UI design evaluations (e.g. user testing) and user adoption & impact measurement activities to inform continuous product improvement and UX best practices
• Contribute to the articulation and evolution of Endeca UX best practices, thought leadership & knowledge base (e.g., Endeca UI Design Pattern Library), and innovation


• 10 or more years in user experience consulting, UX architecture-UI design, and UX strategy/leadership in business and product development environments
• Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional development teams; experience working within an agile software product development process
• Advanced degree or equivalent in information architecture, information design, interaction design, HCI, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or related field
• Strong background in and knowledge of the software development process; background in Computer Science or Engineering a plus
• Skilled and knowledgeable across all facets of user experience/human centered design with outstanding expertise in user experience strategy, research, & interaction design
• Experienced and knowledgeable about designing user interfaces for enterprise software platforms, application frameworks (e.g., portal technology), and B-B/B-E/B-C applications
• Experience working or designing interfaces for business intelligence platforms/applications, complex database applications/systems, and content management systems
• Practical knowledge of emerging user interface/web technologies and advances in search and discovery research and UI best practices
• Skilled in user research and modeling and user assessment methods
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
