Visual Interface/User Experience Designer

Mule Design is a highly-regarded interactive design agency based in San Francisco. Since 2001, we have worked with a variety of businesses and organizations to design applications, publications, and services with real-world impact.

We're looking for an experienced interface designer who enjoys solving challenging design, business, and communication problems in a collaborative environment. This is a full-time, on-site position for someone who wants to be part of a team.

Ideally, this person has a solid visual design background and can work in Photoshop as well as HTML/CSS.

Responsibilities:

• Create initial visual concepts demonstrating potential directions for look-and-feel & branding
• Translate concepts into detailed interface designs, working in close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
• Participate in user research and requirements gathering
• Present potential design solutions to the internal team and directly to clients, maintaining the context of established goals and constraints
• Stay on top of emerging trends, tools, and methodologies
• Advocate for the effectiveness of a thoughtful, strategic, user-centered approach to design

We  require:

• 3+ years experience designing content-driven websites and web applications in a client-services environment
• Demonstrated expertise with layout, typography, and interaction design, working in a variety of visual styles
• A powerful intellectual curiosity and interest in emerging platforms and internet/interface design trends
• A strong sense of craftsmanship
• Clear communication skills and the ability to conceptualize and advocate for design solutions
• Experience with a research-driven, user-centered design approach
• Design or fine arts degree, or equivalent experience
