The Creative Services manager on the Americanfunds.com Web team oversees the activities, performance and process of the Information Architects and Designers in addition to external creative agencies to ensure high quality and timely deliverables. S/he is a leader within the Creative Services team, which is a multi-disciplinary group of interaction designers, visual designers, and writers/editors who collaborate closely with each other and with the larger organization to create compelling, user-friendly and informative customer experiences for a variety of audiences.
Throughout the organization, the Creative Services manager represents and advocates for the user experience perspective. S/he works closely with both the business and web functional groups and peers to identify and implement projects, process changes, improvements and efficiencies and ensure solid creative practice.
Additionally, s/he will be a resource to the team, peers and other business groups by answering questions, facilitating decisions, sharing opinions and perspectives and suggesting new and innovative ideas. This includes having a strategic understanding and vision of the short and long-term business, web and user experience needs to effectively manage and direct projects.
Develops overall project plan for user experience deliverables including identifying and coordinating resource requirements (internal and external).
Works with Creative team to define the user model and interface for new and updated features and functionality.
Oversees and approves user experience deliverables.
Evaluates the usability of new and existing products, and makes constructive suggestions for change.
Presents ideas and user experience recommendations for review throughout organization.
Manages creative process to ensure efficiency, user experience consistency and coordination with system development and production processes.
Makes recommendations for improvements and application of best practices to enhance creative workflow
Manages, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
Leads and manages vendor relationships including overseeing processes, day to day relationships, and related contract, budgeting and planning activities.
3-5 years in a User Experience leadership role
Visual design and information architecture experience required
Financial industry transactional design/information architecture experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces
Keen design sensibility and appreciation for what constitutes Web best practices
Experience in user experience strategy, user behavior and research with the ability to interpret data and transform it to successful online experience
Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
Familiar with project management tools, processes and best practices
Active member of industry associations
BA/BS in User Experience- related field strongly preferred
