By the very nature of what we do, UX professionals must be up-to-date on new technologies and trends in order to shape products and services that reach people in a world of technological and media flux. The transition from desktop software to web sites/web apps and again to mobile phones and tablets has been challenging enough. Now, with natural user interfaces (NUI) on the cusp of popular acceptance and expanded integration into digital and physical products, a whole new challenge is before UI/UX practitioners. In fact, the UI of NUI is so unique that present day UX tools, approaches, and thinking, may need a complete overhaul. Rather than shy away from radical change, this is a pivotal opportunity for UXers from various disciplines to come together and explore this new, exciting world of human/machine interaction.

This conversation is the launching point for the UXD community to develop NUI best practices by examining where NUI is today, where it's headed, what kinds of powerful tools it offers, and how we can harness it to develop new archetypes for useful/desirable UX!

Refreshments will be served.

Attendees will need to show their ID to lobby security to get a building pass. Once you have a pass, proceed to the first bank of elevators and up to Spies & Assassin's office on the sixth floor.

The event is free and open to everyone interested however tickets are required.

IMPORTANT!! Seating is limited. So you must have a ticket to attend. Please only RSVP if you know you can attend.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
Debra Benkler, Digital Creative Architect and co-founder, ScreenPlay InterActive
Deb is a practitioner of lean and logical UX focusing on best practices in the broader context of CX (customer experience). Her repertoire includes many years of agency work designing and creating branding, graphics, and UI for projects including web sites, kiosks, and experiential marketing systems, for clients including: Saks, L’Oreal, Coty, and the Maryland Transit Administration. As co-founder of both the HUM•Ex (NUI) project and NUI Central, she is researching and exploring UX methodologies for NUI (natural user interface). Deb holds an MBA (marketing), a BA in Art History, and most recently won a 2012 User Experience Award.

Ken Lonyai, Digital Innovation Strategist and co-founder, ScreenPlay InterActive
Ken is a 15+ year veteran of user centered interactive project development including some of the industry's most unique experiential systems. His skills span the on-line world and nearly every realm of human/computer interface used by brands and retailers - mobile, interactive kiosks, experiential displays, NUI (natural user interface) and more. Focused on UX and increasingly on NUI (natural user interface), Ken is a UX/CX evangelist to companies and brands and an NUI evangelist to the world! He's a co-founder of the HUM•Ex (NUI) project, co-founder of NUI Central, and a 2012 User Experience Award winner.
