Interaction Designer : Community Platforms - Participation
Yahoo! Inc. is looking for an Interaction Designer to join the User
Experience & Design (UED) team within the Community Platforms team. In this
position you are working closely with visual designers, user experience
researchers, product managers and technologists across a variety of
Community platforms to define the user experience standards strategy and
best practices of Community participation tools like Blogs, Polls, Ratings
and Reviews, Message Boards, Lists, Comments and Annotations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Communicate best practices for encouraging participation in Yahoo!
Communities.
• Collaborate with the community integration team and Yahoo! Developer
Network team to realize the best practices in Yahoo! Properties and
elsewhere on the web.
• Collaborate with the "people" platform team to define best practices
for identity, relationships, and reputation.
• Serve as an advocate for the members of the Yahoo! community. Create
delightful, engaging, experiences that are safe and secure.
• Communicate network standards for user-generated content including
photos, video, podcasts, ratings and reviews, message board posts, polls,
blog entries, lists, comments, annotations, etc.
• Set conceptual design and product directions based on field research
and functional requirements including an understanding of cross-product
issues and challenges
• Work with user experience researchers to design and observe usability
studies and translates the findings into design improvements
• Collaborate with visual designers to refine the interactive experience
and retain a user focus as well as to prototype new ways of integrating
Community platforms to best serve the user and the business
• Work hand in hand with web developers and engineers to deliver the
final product
• Manage project communication and asset exchange across
multidisciplinary team throughout all phases of projects

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Factors, HCI, cognitive science,
graphic design or related field
• At least 5+ years experience as a key member of user experience team
participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several
successfully launched web and/or software applications
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Mastery of user-centered design process and solid interaction design
skills
• Familiarity with field and lab-based usability research methodologies
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus
• Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in
a fast-paced environment
• Must be organized, have an eye for detail and be able to put ideas into
a tangible form
• Must be process driven, demonstrate strong interaction design skills
and have a solid understanding of user centered design principles and design
patterns
• Able to develop new approaches to complex design problems and can
convey ideas into tangible form
• Ability to create prototypes at a variety of levels of fidelity
• Must have solid understanding of web application and website design
with working knowledge of HTML
• Familiarity with the Windows and Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines a
plus
• Passion for and understanding of design systems and integrations

Interaction Designer : Community Platforms Integration
Yahoo! Inc. is looking for an Interaction Designer to join the User
Experience & Design (UED) team within the Community Platforms Integration
team. In this position you are working closely with visual designers, user
experience researchers, product managers and technologists across a variety
of Community platforms to define the user experience standards strategy and
integration best practices of Community Platform components. The ID in the
Integrations team will be responsible for owning the developing best
practices library, for facilitation of dialogue across business units and
for regular communications and announcements about the growing body of
Community Platforms best practices.

platform team to define best practices for identity, relationships, and
reputation as well as participation tools; message boards, ratings and
