Position: Senior User Experience Design Technologist (Designer)

Location: San Dimas, California

Reports to: Director, Product Marketing - User Experience and Product
Design

Position Summary: Design and develop world-class user interfaces for
next generation vehicle and outdoor Personal Navigation Devices (PND).

The candidate should possess relevant industry experience and
academic background in designing, developing, and integrating UI for
consumer electronics devices, PC-based applications, and Web-based
solutions. Experience in developing GPS navigation based interaction
is highly desirable.

Primary Responsibilities:
Apply best-in-class UI processes and methodologies in researching,
envisioning, conceptualizing, specifying innovative user interfaces
for implementation in product/ systems/ and platform solutions.
Conduct consumer insights research (including consumer electronics
industry trend and competitive analysis)
Work in conjunction with marketing, sales, and engineering teams to
integrate consumer research & marketing requirements, articulate, and
create user interface requirements document for use by internal and
external work partners.
Research, create early concepts/ storyboards, define use-cases,
develop user interface flows (wire frames) and create prototypes;
conduct usability studies and refine user interface flows for
successful implementation into products.
Monitor consumer feedback in order to create complete out-of-box
experience that will delight our end-users and our channel partners.

Required Experience and Skills:
· Excellence in logical thinking and creative problem solving skills
is essential in addition to ability to work in a very dynamic cross-
functional environment.
· Prior experience in designing, specifying, and implementing user
interfaces for personal consumer electronic devices is necessary.
· Experience in creating rapid prototypes for usability studies
(candidate should be very well versed in using prototyping tools such
as Macromedia Director, Flash, Dreamweaver etc.) and possess a good
sense of visual communications and graphical skills are essential.
· Experienced in working in close conjunction with S/W and Firmware
team in successful implementation of the user interfaces into products.
· Capable of managing projects independently.

Education and other desirable qualification:
3-7 years experience in consumer electronics industry with some
product development experience in conjunctions with core UI skills.
Graduate degree in Interaction- design/ Human-computer interaction/
or equivalent
Should be a self starter with an ability to independently lead
initiatives in subject matter area.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualification.

Travel: Some travel may be required (10%)

Relocation: Thales will assist in relocation.
