1. Job postings. I have been a bit slack of those who have been posting
without going through moderation (meaning it is a your 2nd or 3rd or more
posting). It really makes a very big difference to our subscribers if you
follow the following subject line format in your job posting messages:
JOB: [Title of Position], [Company name if not recruiter] - [City, ST/PR,
Country] - ["perm" or "contract"], ["recruiter" if relevant]
2. Reducing quoted material.
Since a fair number of people (close to 1000) are digest readers, it really
does make a HUGE difference if people trim the their replies to only include
the relevant material.
3. Replying from the digest
When you reply from a post from the digest it is really important that you
maintain the subject line by cutting and pasting it into the subject line of
the email you are sending to the list. This particularly helps those who are
using e-mail programs that have very good subject line based threading like
Outlook, Gmail, Entourage and Thunderbird.
4. Please do not use auto-responders on addresses that you subscribe to this
address with (Vacation or other Out of Office). Some systems (especially
Notes based so its seems, so all you IBM lurkers should be listening) reply
not to the sender of a message from the list, which is pretty darn annoying
in and of itself, but they respond to the list itself. For some reason most
of these people who are using auto-responders happen to be lurkers so they
are thankfully still on moderation mode, but this means work for me. The
others who have messages sent to the poster though, is a nusance to them.
Please follow the instructions for turning off your mail delivery while you
are away (at listhelp.ixda.org), or move your subscription to a non-work
releated list where you do not need to use an auto-responder like Yahoo or
