Open Laszlo for Dummies?

We're learning OpenLaszlo and are finding it confusing to deploy. If you
have any tips or are willing to answer some basic questions off-list,
please reply to me privately.

For example, the Eclipse environment seems too heavy, and the EditPlus
text editor isn't really enough...

And... why does the output look different on FireFox and IE? Isn't it
supposed to be simply multi-platform?

As an open source product, maybe we can help with some "Getting Started as
a UI Designer with Open Laszlo." FAQ would be a good output.

I'll track suggestions and things and I'll post it on the 'net and send a
pointer here.

Thanks!

Scott Weiss

Hi Scott-

I don't know too much about Eclipse, so I have forwarded your email
to engineers here. They can reply to you personally about technical
issues.

I can however point you to the Designer's Guide to Laszlo Apps http://
www.laszlosystems.com/lps-3.3/docs/design, which covers some basic
design considerations. Unfortunately, although our platform is open
source, this info is not editable by the community -- for now. Our
documentation folks are planning to put forward a proposal for an
improved process for community contributions. In the meantime, I know
there are a number of user groups and forums for Laszlo developers,
but I'm not aware of any for designers. If there's enough interest,
I could start the ball rolling on that one.
