Question, where can I purchase mobile fonts or find a mobile font designer?
We have a game that we are designing and need specially design fonts for the mobile phone....normal fonts aren't working and we don't have the expertise inhouse for typography. We want the font to have a certain type of look and feel, but want it to work on a mobile J2ME game.

I'm unsure of how J2ME handles fonts but there are quite a few good
pixel fonts that work well on mobile phones. By using pixel fonts
you'll avoid anti-aliasing the fonts which can be awkward to read at
small sizes.
Typically you'll want to use something around 8 or 10 points which
will provide the necessary contrast across the gamut of good and bad
displays that the game will be played on. You can mock this up
quickly in Flash LIte and do your visual tests there instead of in
Some good starting points for such fonts could be:
Underware's Unibody 8-pixel font: http://www.underware.nl/site2/
index.php3?id1=unibody&id2=overview
Fonts for Flash: http://www.fontsforflash.com/
Miniml: http://miniml.com/
Grixl: http://www.grixel.gr/
If you need to have a font made for your game I'm sure these folks
can help you out. I hope you'll post a link to your game when you're
done ;-)
