Help us develop the product that is revolutionizing Television! TiVo
is the Emmy award-winning experience that continues to enhance and
expand how consumers watch and access home entertainment and personal
media. We are looking for a PC UI designer to be responsible for the
PC software that interacts with our DVR products.

Designing TiVo's user experience presents unique challenges ' from
making a depth of content and functionality remarkably easy to use, to
designing for a platform that combines television with the broadband
capabilities of mobile devices and traditional computers. Our goal is
to create an interface to that presents itself as extremely
straightforward, consistent, and simple to use for the wide market of
family, in-home use.

We work very closely with Customer Support, Product Marketing, and
Research teams to gather information on our products. We have a
collaborative, team-oriented, consensus building approach to design,
and believe in taking input and feedback from a wide variety of

It is critical for candidates to work well with other teams and to
have a strong leadership presence. TiVo UI Designers work closely with
engineering, product marketing, customer support and our partners to
shape the future direction of our products and features.

Candidates must be able to understand the balance of user experience,
business case, and time-to-market, represent the needs of the user in
cross-functional negotaiations, and make tradeoffs where appropriate.

* Create and iterate UI designs, and producing detailed, written
specifications for Engineering
* Work with Visual Designers and Prototypers to create screen mockups
and functional prototypes of your designs
* Partner with User Research to test and refine your designs
* Plan with Product Management to define feature/product requirements
* Work with Engineering to understand architecture and development
* Team up with Customer Support to understand issues subscribers have
with the current UI

* At least three years experience doing user interface design in a
formal software development environment
* Experience designing consumer software products for Windows
* Excellent design skills and a proven track record of designing
software interfaces, and writing detailed UI/functional specifications

* Big picture design ideas
* Extreme detail orientation, and an obsession for consistency
* Organized written and verbal communication skills, and clear
presentation style
* Logical, analytical thinking
* Reasonable understanding of underlying technical issues
* An affinity for television and the evolving landscape of
broadband-enabled content
