That's exactly it Todd and I would agree with you. Every day on the tube I
have at least 2 or 3 fellow iPod cowboys - just in my carriage. So to say
Apple is unsuccessful is a little, well, silly really. You could, however,
say that Apple have been unsuccessul in their desktop penetration in
relation to Microsoft. The fact that they are one of the World's most
recongised brands is, without doubt, a feather in their cap and indeed they
are successful. Once again, however, you can say that they have
unsuccessfully leveraged the strength of their brand.

Uh, huh. And I guess by that logic companies like Illy, Ferrari, Mercedes,
and Dewalt and designers like Frank Lloyd Wright, Mizrahi, Oldham, and
Calvin Klein aren't successful either? After all, none of them have a large
following. They do, however, have a significant amount of influence in the
world - tiny as it might be, that doesn't mean it's not significant.

How are you defining "success"?

Cheers!

In theory, theory and practice are the same.

In practice, they are not.
