I really like http://www.okaydave.com/- especially at the project level with
a story (video) and other details like process, screenshots etc

When I graduated from grad school last year and was looking for a job, I
thought that my portfolio would be the single best tool to prove my
capabilities. Although I did get a decent amount of traffic, most people (6
out of 7) who had called me for interviews didn't bother to go through my
portfolio. Even those who came to my website only saw the resume and exited.

How much importance does a portfolio hold for Ixd'ers?

Vishal,

Thanks for the link, I think it's great. To your point a bout looking
at portfolio, most portfolios I have seen tend to not be able to
communicate the context, so while I do look at them, I tend to use it
for very initial screening, if someone is just way to good or way too
bad, the real deal is in conversation around the portfolio, context of
what was done why.

Something like David's is much more helpful, though requires more time
as well. For instance his kennedy center one, if one just looked at
the logo design and other artwork without the story behind, it's
doesn't have the same impact.

Net Net I think Portfolio without conversation is about first
impression, and then it's really all in conversation.

Cheers
Alok
