JOB TITLE: Senior User Researcher


Intuit, the makers of Quicken, TurboTax and QuickBooks software, is
looking for a dynamic Senior User Researcher to join its Small Business
Division, a portfolio of winning solutions and brands (e.g. QuickBooks
and Quicken).
The Small Business Division's Experience Design team is tasked with
designing the shop, buy, and use experiences that delight customers,
prospects, and users for its products.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
* Passionately champion good user research and design principles.
Promote and support User Centered Design processes through all stages of
the product development life-cycle.
* Assess needs of business and customer, then, determine the
course of action, including appropriate research methodologies
* Develop end to end research plans by collaborating with other
disciplines such as Market Research
* Design and facilitate lab-based usability studies, field studies
and contextual inquiry, focus groups, expert evaluations, brainstorming
sessions, survey and questionnaire creation, and other usability
engineering methodologies
* Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information,
write research reports, and present the results to the stakeholders
* Provide concrete, actionable recommendations to development
* Ensure products meet business and ease of use goals, and adhere
to visual and information design principles
* Work closely with UI Designer, Product Manager, and other team
* Participate and foster the Experience Design Community
* Use faciliative leadership skills to accomplish your work,
resulting in others learning from you, and inspiring others to want to
work with you
* PhD or Masters Degree in Human Factors, Cognitive or
Experimental Psychology, or an equivalent field in the behavioral
* At least five years of industry experience as a hands-on
* Expertise in a broad range of methodologies including:
experimental design, data analysis, and results interpretation,
inferential statistics, site visits, interviews, usability testing, card
sorts, focus groups, user flows, user profiling, task analysis, etc
* Strong understanding of GUI design concepts and emerging
* Attention to metrics - collect, analyze, and report ease-of-use
metrics and use these metrics to identify areas for improvement
* Excellent collaboration skills. Enjoy working closely with
others, respectful of other perspectives.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation
* Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to manage complex
projects in a timely manner
* Experience teaching and mentoring others in these concepts and

Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of financial software
* Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Photoshop,
Dreamweaver, Visual Basic and others)
