JOB TITLE: XD Architect, Small Business

The Small Business Division Next Generation Platform and Applications
organization seeks an experienced User Experience Architect with
superior design skills and experience in UX architecture, UX innovation
and paradigm shifts, and complex interaction design problems to help
build the next generation platform and applications of
business-management, financial, and accounting software for small- and
mid-sized businesses. Successful candidate will be well trained or
experienced in end-to-end UX design, illustrate an ability to apply
strategic thinking and business goals to all design work, possess a keen
and quick understanding of design patterns and user workflow, and will
be known for high-level and out-of-the-box thinking.

Candidate will have worked as a hands-on UX design practitioner, will
have kept his or her hands-on design skills sharp and up-to-date, is
known for working well with business development and user research
specialists, and will have been responsible for managing strategic and
innovative UX architecture and platforms.

Ideal candidate will:
* Be capable of defining and implementing design vision,
end-to-end solutions, UX standards
* Illustrate drive for ease of use and simplicity despite
complexity of software/desktop/web applications
* Learn new technology quickly, from the core applications being
developed to new design tools to new platforms and devices
* Collaborate with UX teams and product development partners,
compare and contrast various design solutions and approaches-all taking
technical, resource, and time constraints into account
* Illustrate experience in conceptual and creative development and
in hands-on execution
* Be a creative problem-solver and an effective communicator,
presenter, negotiator, collaborator, regardless of organizational
structure or hierarchy
* Illustrate previous effective partnership with User Research,
Visual Design, Engineering, Product Management, and Executive Management
* Illustrate powerful and effective leadership and change
management prowess

Requirements and qualifications:
* Four-year product/interaction design, industrial design, or
related degree
* Post-graduate design degree in design or cognitive science/human
factors preferred
* Eight or more years total industry experience
* Five plus years application product experience. Experience in
shipping high-volume, high-profile, or award-winning software products
* Knowledge of platform specific user interface guidelines and
interaction design patterns
* Experience with desktop and/or web applications required;
familiarity with mobile technologies a plus

* Strong portfolio available for viewing
