Reading some of these discussions I am so excited, I feel like starting my
own group at my local ACM chapter. I've enjoyed reading these discussions
and I participate when I feel that I can contribute. If you haven't read
much from me its just because I have not had much to say, but I appreciate
every post.

The posting regarding the Flash one screen hotel reservation deign was
particularly interesting to me. I've been researching for examples of simple
interaction schemes and this provides me with additional examples that are
difficult to find.

I look forward to seeing how this group develops. I think the AIFIA model
has a lot to offer the formation of a group focused on evangelism and
education. The discussions are a good example of this helpful discussion.
Has the idea crossed the discussions of starting an online school? What
better way to send the message then to recruit students and give them the
foundation in practical applications that they may not get anywhere else?

Interestingly, AIfIA has done remarkably well *despite* the fact
that there isn't exactly real consensus about what IA is. Probably
a lesson there too for this group.

For good or for bad AIfIA created itself behind doors. This meant that they
felt they had the confidence of "the community at large" (which existed
through two forums: sigia-l and the ia summit) to go out and just assume a
whole lot, and take a big risk and go for it. They just definied it and
moved on. I'm sure it wasn't easy even w/in the smaller group that they had.
But they did have faith and conviction and that more than anything else is
there major success.

The current workgroup (which by the way is open to anyone interested) is
doing this work right now in a much more open fashion. Maybe not on this
ist, but anyone who wants to "do the work" can e-mail
volunteers at interactiondesigners.com to join the fun!

As Mel Brooks once said, "Its good to be the king."
