JOB: Senior & Mid-Level Experience Designers, NYC, AKQA, Fulltime - Freelancers also welcome
AKQA is looking for mid-level and senior user experience professionals to join us in New York. Youll collaborate with designers and developers to build rich, interactive experiences across a diversity of digital media. Anything from large-scale websites and content management systems, to microsites, advertising, mobile phone applications or even event kiosks. User experience is your passion: you can predict and describe user behavior, define business requirements with client teams and are equally at ease sketching with designers as negotiating feature sets with tech teams.
Please be prepared to show examples of your work not only the final site/product, but also the documentation you created for the project, such as sitemap, wireframes and/or detailed specifications.
Qualifications:
At least 4 8 years in the interactive space as an Information Architect, Interaction Designer or other related role. Seniority commensurate with experience.
A strong portfolio that demonstrates your core skills across a variety of project types (website, microsite, mobile, advertising, CMS, intranet, etc).
BA/BFA in communication, multimedia, design or psychology a plus
User Experience Planning Skills
Excellent client handling and presentation skills
Proven ability leading business requirements gathering, benchmarking, content audits and feature set definition
Experience conducting or assisting in user research and usability testing to create personas, user journeys and generate analysis
Produce documentation including, but not exclusive to, wireframes, sitemaps and functional specifications
Design & Technical Skills
Strong conceptual ability and understanding of marketing and branding principles
Keen visual sense and knowledge of basic design techniques such as page composition, hierarchy of information and color theory
Ability to provide rationale behind strategic, architectural and design decisions and to disseminate information to both creative and technical teams, including (offsite) third-party vendors
Creative toolset expertise: Illustrator, Visio, OmniGraffle and familiarity with Flash, HTML and Javascript-based effects
Thorough knowledge of rich internet applications and Web 2.0 technology
An understanding of platform constraints, browsers and accessibility guidelines
Cultural Fit
Detail oriented thinker with an ability to also see the big picture
Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in fast-paced, international, highly creative setting
Interest in emerging interaction trends and new technologies, as well as a forward-thinking mindset
Self-starter with an ability to manage deliverables on deadline across simultaneous projects
