Headers for internal biz apps

My huge IxD squad here at work (and by huge, I mean there's a whopping 2
of us) mainly work on consolidating all of the company's apps onto a
single RIA platform. This platform is made up of 'modules' that each
serve a different business function.

The question of headers for each module has come up recently, and I'd
like to hear some opinions on this to add to our debate. Some of our
modules have a header, some don't. For the ones that don't, it's pretty
much the browser chrome and then the app itself. No product name or
header at all.

My specific question - what value does a traditional header have for
internal applications?

By a traditional header I mean a bar at the top with a logo on the left,
and some sort of global navigation. Luke's work is a good example:
http://www.lukew.com/image_viewer.asp?url=portfolio/web_applications/img
/aerobahn_big3.gif&name=Aerobahn%20Web%20Application

So, why would you or would you not use this type of treatment for a
suite of internal business applications?

Thanks,
Jeff
