JOB: Web Developer-Designer, Washington DC Metro Area

Our company is a human factors design consulting firm in the DC Metro area.
We perform design consulting and product testing for clients in both the
government and private sector. This is a full time position; however,
contract-to-hire may be available.
We are looking for a person with both development and design skills to join
our company as an interface prototype developer/designer. This person will
be skilled in basic interface and server side web technologies and can
quickly prototype design ideas for the design team to comment on and make
changes to until an interface design is ready for user-based testing. The
ideal candidate will have experience with HCI/usability/user-centered design
practices and have experience working with designers or deliverables
designers often provide (e.g. wireframes, interface specifications, mockups).
This person will be a part of the design team and will report to the lead
This is not a software development position; the code produced will be used
for internal testing of design ideas and not for release in a production
Salary will commiserate with experience, flexible work schedule/environment,

Work with the design team in an iterative development environment
Develop operational prototypes of interfaces for testing
Comment on design and provide design input
Knowledge of Web Accessibility Guidelines (508)
Photoshop or equivalent graphics editor
Strong communication skills
Bachelors degree in appropriate discipline
2+ years experience or Masters degree in appropriate discipline
An eye for design or creative use of technology
Knowledge of Ajax and other Web 2.0 technologies
Knowledge of rapid prototype tools such as Axure, Flash, Visio, etc.
Knowledge of usability, information architecture, user research
Experience with Apache in Linux server environment
Experience in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
Experience with Government clients
