I am looking for good examples, tools, techniques, readings on data
visualisation. Apologies this is so broad but I just want to do a scope of
what is out there on this subject.

best in the data visualization design area... here's his official

For many of the projects mentioned in this page you can download the
software and datasets and get a first-hand experience with many
visualisation methods.

First, recognize that the ‘right’ requirements
are in principle unknowable by users, customers
and designers at the start.
Devise the design process, and the formal
agreement between designers and customers and users,
to be sensitive to what is learnt by any of the
parties as the design evolves.
Their goal is "to democratize visualization and to enable a new
social kind of data analysis." Anyone can upload data, choose a few
options and generate a visualization that's then open to the public.
Thanks guys for all the links. I know it was a broad question but you have
returned some real useful stuff for me.
Thanks again
